Return Policy

Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law (ACL) are always fully protected.

💡 Let’s Find the Perfect Item First!

Many of our products are delicate, unique, and handcrafted. Packing, unpacking, and shipping fragile items multiple times risks damaging them. We are more than happy to assist you before you buy! If you have questions about sizes, colors, or materials, please reach out at +61 415 205 260 (11 am - 7 pm, 7 days) so we can help you get it right the first time and keep returns to a minimum.

1. Return Eligibility
  • Returns accepted within 14 days of delivery.
  • Items must be unused, unworn, undamaged, and in original condition.
  • Original tags and order confirmation are required.
  • Please note: Returns showing signs of wear, use, missing embellishments, perfume, stains, alterations, or damaged packaging may not be accepted.
2. Items Excluded from Return

We do not accept change-of-mind returns on:

  • Altered & Customized Products
  • Home Décor & Accessories: Due to their fragile nature and single-use/event styling potential, we cannot verify if they have been used.
  • Jewellery: Excluded for hygiene reasons.
  • Gift Cards & Sale Items: Any items discounted by 70% or more (Final Sale).

(Naturally, faulty or damaged items are always fully covered for a replacement or refund under the ACL).

3. Return Options & Fees
  • Store Credit (Recommended): Choose store credit and we will waive our restocking fees as a thank-you for staying a House of Nepal customer.
  • Refunds: Change-of-mind refunds back to your original payment method are subject to a 10% restocking fee to cover manual inspection, handling, and repackaging costs.

Shipping Note: Return shipping is paid by the customer. Original shipping fees are non-refundable. If your order originally qualified for free shipping, our actual cost to ship the item to you will be deducted from your final refund or credit. Unclaimed, refused, or returned-to-sender parcels will be treated as change-of-mind returns.

4. Quick How-To Guide
  • Step 1: Email hello@houseofnepal.com.au immediately to request a return. Unapproved returns cannot be accepted.
  • Step 2: Once approved, pack the item securely and ship it back using a tracked and insured service. The item remains your responsibility until it safely reaches us.
5. Product Variations & Faults
  • Handmade Variance: Minor variations in color, size, and finish are natural characteristics of artisan-made goods, not defects.
  • Damaged or Faulty Items: Please inspect your order immediately upon arrival. If an item is faulty or damaged, contact us right away so we can arrange a swift repair, replacement, or full refund in accordance with the ACL.
  • Fair Use: We monitor return patterns. We reserve the right to decline returns or limit options to store credit if we identify policy misuse (such as excessive returns or buying multiple similar items to return most of them).

Care Instructions for Traditional Clothing

  • Dry Clean Recommended: Delicate fabrics and intricate embellishments are best maintained through professional dry cleaning.
  • Hand Wash / Machine Wash: Cotton or digitally printed garments may be cold hand washed separately or machine washed on a gentle cycle to prevent colour bleeding and shrinkage.
  • Storage: Store garments in a cotton or muslin bag in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Avoid plastic covers, as they can trap moisture and cause mould or mildew.
  • Folding: Fold gently along natural pleats with embellishments facing inward. Use acid-free tissue paper between folds to reduce creasing.
  • Handling: Handle with clean hands and avoid pulling or tugging on delicate fabrics, embroidery, or embellishments.
  • Ironing: Use low heat and place a thin cotton cloth over the garment while ironing. Avoid direct heat on embroidery, sequins, beads, or zari work.
  • Spot Cleaning: For minor stains, gently dab with a soft cloth and mild detergent diluted in water. Do not rub harshly.
  • Protect Embellishments: Keep garments away from sharp jewellery or objects that may snag delicate detailing.
  • Perfumes & Deodorants: Apply perfumes or deodorants before dressing to avoid stains or discolouration.
  • Avoid Moisture & Sunlight: Excess moisture can cause mildew, while direct sunlight may lead to fading or discolouration.

Following these instructions will help preserve the beauty, quality, and longevity of your traditional clothing.
